About the Championships

The European and World Championships TREC (Techniques de Randonnée Équestre de Compétition) are a premier equestrian event that tests the versatility, endurance, and partnership between horse and rider. Originating in France, TREC has grown into a beloved sport across Europe and far beyond.

Our mission is to promote the sport of TREC, encourage international camaraderie, and celebrate the bond between horses and their riders. Each championship event offers a unique opportunity to witness extraordinary horsemanship and the thrill of competition.

POR ~ Orientation

The Orienteering Phase of TREC tests the rider's navigation skills and the horse's endurance. Participants follow a pre-determined route using a map and compass, covering varied terrain and checkpoints within a set time.

MA ~ Control of paces

The Control of Paces phase in TREC challenges the riders ability to control the horses gaits. Riders must canter as slowly as possible and return at a fast walk over a narrow and straight track, showcasing precision and control.

PTV ~ Obstacle course

The Obstacle Course tests the horse and rider's ability to navigate various obstacles. This phase evaluates their skill, agility, and partnership as they tackle challenges like gates, bridges, and jumps under timed conditions.
